Brachial Plexus Injury is a devastating injury. Unfortunately, young people are affected and often have a difficult path to recovery.
Free Functioning Muscle Transfer is a boon to these patients. It can be used either in primary reconstruction or as a secondary reconstruction following the failure of a primary reconstruction. It is useful in later presentations too.
Thanks to the Japanese surgeons for pioneering this surgical concept and later on application to several other medical conditions. In due course it was modified and improvised by numerous other surgeons.
